REACHing Out Blurb for JUNE 7, 2020
There is a house in Joplin, a place known to manufacture and sell drugs, that we have visited often during our Watered Gardens Rescue Team outreach. For whatever reason from time to time someone at that house will receive some sort of assistance from the shelter and then we end up with that address for follow-up evangelism. The tiny house is packed full of people all the time, the majority of them obviously high. Sounds like something from a movie or TV, but this is the surreal real thing. This week we pulled up and I said to myself, “oh dear, this place again?” There was a young man, 20’s, in the front yard bleeding badly with a fresh wound yelling at someone in the house. There was a man on the porch high as a kite on drugs. A woman was very angry and yelling obscenities at the guy bleeding. Another woman appeared leaving the house whom I believe was a prostitute. This is a very, very, very dark place. What this house needs more than anything is the Light of Jesus Christ. As these people are not likely to accept a bible study invite they need humble Christ-like people to penetrate their darkness with the Light. Interestingly, the lady I believed to be a prostitute saw us on the sidewalk praying over the house and asked for prayer…prayer that she could get off of drugs and have a normal life. Carrying the Light of Jesus Christ into a dark place. You and I are called to do this wherever we are at. Please consider becoming part of a Rescue Team - Mondays, 6:15 PM @ Watered Gardens!
