What Is Journey?

Journey Church is a Southern Baptist Church in Joplin, MO. However, that is not where the story ends. Journey is a loving, Christ-centered body of believers who desires that you come to us just as you are, not how you think someone expects you to be. The people of Journey are into building relationships, being there for each other through life's struggles, and, above all, spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are not perfect, just a bunch of people who need the Grace of Jesus Christ. Our values: Family, Authenticity, Instruction, Transformation, and Hands-On Ministry.

Get Connected

A church home is nothing more than a place to go on Sunday mornings unless you are connected with other believers. There are many ways to get connected at Journey, but possibly the best of these is by participating in a Sunday morning small group. They meet at 9:15 am. There is a Christ-centered, nurturing environment to suit every member of your family. It's not scary, and you won't be walking in on a private meeting. People will be there to warmly welcome you and make you feel like a family member from the start.

A great way to keep track of your reading...

Check out youversion.com. You can choose a reading plan there (we chose the "One Year Bible" plan) and have it keep track of your readings. What to Expect - Your First Visit to Journey

OK, so you have decided to visit this church with a strange name in Joplin, Journey Church. Going into a new church for the first time can be intimidating. Maybe you haven't been in church for a while, maybe you had a bad church experience somewhere along the line that left you with negative feelings toward church, or maybe you have never been to church and someone asked you to come with them. Whatever your situation is when you come in the door for the first time, there are a few things you can be absolutely sure of:

We are a family of people who follow Christ Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior. Our family will make you feel welcome.

We love unconditionally all people who walk in the door!

We are ready to get to know you, just as you are. This is the way Jesus does it.

We are very low key when it comes to dress. Wear your jeans and t-shirt, wear a suit and a tie, wear your flip flops or wear your $300 shoes - we really don't care! What we DO care about is that you come ready to listen and act on whatever God has for you.
